How much is your dignity? How much is your dignity worth? Is it worth 2000 or is it worth a few tips? At the end of a long day, most people stay in toxic jobs, toxic relationship and toxic mindsets not because they are weak, but because they are trapped by the comfort of small money. The comfort of small money. I spent a year sitting on a cupboard like chair in an electrical store, being treated like a child where my own potential was screaming at me to leave. I was an expert at CCTV already, but I was living like a slave.
Today I'm going to tell you the full story of my exit from the day my boss reported me to my dad, to the day he tried to controlled when I was allowed to eat. Though a lot of things happened in between. But these are the two major things I'll be talking to you about today. But more importantly, I'm going to show you how to build a ladder out of the pit using nothing but your knowledge and a system that requires 0 capital. Late last year, December 13th, I was sitting on that cupboard like chair, mutually a wooden box where we can open up and put something inside or store things in it, then cover it back and sit on it.
So that day a colleague of mine, he did a satellite Finder for a job. So satellite Finder is more like an instrument or tool used for tracking of satellite signals for DSTV, Go TV, etcetera. This colleague of mine forgot his own satellite Finder at home before he went to where he had a job. Now he wanted somebody who has it to actually come meet him at where he was because his house was quite a distance. So now my boss asked me and my other colleague if we had gotten ours because he has been telling us for quite a while, right that we should get it.
Now remember I am an apprentice, I don't get the salary, I live on tips. Now he wanted me to spend up to 70,000 of my own, let's say 55 to 70,000 because that's what a satellite Finder cost. I don't need to spend 55 to 70,000 naira of my own my own money on a tool so he could make more profit. When I said no, when he asked me if I have gotten it and I told him no, he suddenly flared up. Now this anger was directed majorly at me for some reasons which I don't know, but for some reasons, when he asked my other colleagues and they told him no, he was not flared up.
When he got to my turn and he asked me and I said no, he suddenly flared up. He picked up his phone and called my father. Imagine that a grown man calling another man's father to complain that his son hasn't bought it 2 for work. Well my dad was on the other end trying to explain trying to calm him down but then my boss wasn't having it so he looked at me and said take your bag and go take your bag and go home just like that. Hey well I stood up. Oh I bagged my things. I was ready. I took my bag.
But when I was about leaving, he started. He stopped me, started playing foolishness. Yes, I call you foolishness and this is not an insult. He ended the call and started questioning me, ranting, trying to make me feel smaller and all that. Well, eventually he asked me to sit down and I sat back down. But as I looked at the floor, I asked myself the hardest question of my life. Divine, why are you still here?
And now? The honest answer was embarrassing. The tips, the 200 naira here, the 2000 naira there. That was the reason why I was still tolerating all these bullshit. And that was the day I decided to plan my exit. I realized I didn't need a job because I do not want to express this thing again. So I realized I needed a product, something that didn't require capital filming or a boss's permission. So I decided to write an ebook. Now I was thinking about what do I write particularly? And then one day the universe gave me an answer.
Write a book. Our teaching people how to write a book, but this time using AI to run the whole process. And that's how I started creating my digital products. Now Fast forward to this year. I was still there. I was still in the shop while still building my ebook in the background. Then my boss set a new rule. Now the the rule states that if a colleague calls us for a job right or a friend of his who is in the same workspace who does the same job rather calls us for a job, then the payment must go to him first then he will give us a court.
So one Friday like that a friend of his needed help for a job. So he called me an another colleague in the store and asked that we help him finish up the job at a particular location. So we left. When we finished it, we placed the call to him and called and asked for our transportation, our pay and everything. Then he told us that he's going to give us the transportation but then DP that he has already sent it to our boss. Pure extortion. So I went back to the Plaza because we our store is located in the Plaza, though before that he was really getting it.
So I had called a colleague of mine who was at the store right to inform him that OK, we might be coming late. So please help me take my power bank and give to the people in the next store because they close quite late. So when I get there, I'll collect my power bank because I don't go to work on Saturdays, on Saturdays rather. So I cannot come back on Saturday to take it. So he did as I said and I went back to the Plaza. I picked my power bank. Then I noticed my boss was still in the Plaza, bought in his car.
He was actually making a call, but I think he was waiting for me. I know he was waiting for me. So I saw my boss sitting in the in his car. He was waiting for me. He wanted me to come and ask him or beg him for my court knowingfully were who I am. I didn't even look at his way. I didn't even look his way. I took my power bank, ignored him completely, and I went home and that was it. My ebook was done, my design was set, the system was ready. Now the next week after that Friday, on the Monday, this was the week I was planning my launch for the ebook, right?
This was the week I was planning my launch. So I had planned on creating a seven day series of Talking head video where I explained the problem creators and everything. Then on the day seven, I pitch off my product and everything. So I needed to plan a whole a whole lot and create the whole strategies and do a lot of things. So I needed to do that because I wasn't able to do that on Sunday, the day previous to Monday, right? The day before Monday rather. So I needed to do that. So I wanted to go to work that day and I thought, what is actually the essence of me going to this store today knowing fully well that I'm just going to go back there and sit down unless there's a job.
So immediately the rebel in me said, divine, don't go anywhere, sit at home. So I texted my boss and told him that I was not going to come to work that day and that was it. So I didn't go. I used plan, I recorded, I posted and everything. Now the next day is a Tuesday. I went to the work. I, I went to work. I, I got to the store around 10:00 AM. I'm, I'm a late call my yeah, I'm a late call. My no. But that's the normal time I go to work because there's no essence when I go there. Most times when we don't have anything, we just sit down.
We just sit down at a particular spot for the rest of the day. And that is not healthy. So that was most mostly the reason why I do not even prioritize coming early. So now when I got there, I saw my boss he was on the call and I greeted him and he did not respond. I say OK and me right. I didn't even mind him. I just dropped my bag brought out my book and my pen. I was being storming content ideas because I needed content for my for my book right? So now after everything towards afternoon, specifically around 3:00 PM, a friend, I was texting a friend of mine and I asked him have you eaten?
And he was like no he has not eaten throughout the day. I was like OK why was like I don't know. He said no particular reason. But then he said he guessed I have eaten. That is when I realized that OK, I have not had anything to eat throughout that day as well because I didn't eat from home. So I decided since I was partially done with what I was doing, I'll quickly go home and go and eat and come back, which is something I normally do. It's not like a new character. It is something I normally do right?
So I stood up, I packed my stuff, my stuff and I told my colleague I was going home to eat. Then he said go and tell your girl. I was like hoodie 4 cares, I don't care. So I walked out. As I was walking out of the Plaza, I heard someone called me. It was my boss. He was in another store in dish in the whole Plaza. So he asked me where was I going to. I told you I'm going home to eat. Then he started shouting in front of people. He wanted to tell me that OK, Divine, this is the last time. This is the first and last time is going to allow me to go and eat that if we're working in some way far possibly we see right that will not be going home to go and eat every day.
This is the last time that what do I expect other people to do that their house is far like the last time is going to allow me to go and home and eat. I was not I was trying to explain to OK, Sir, I had not eaten throughout that day. I were not even doing anything in this shop. I was like, it does not care that this is the last time he's going to allow me to go home and go and eat. And I just said OK, and I went home. That was my response. So I went home. I ate. As I was about leaving, I told my my stepmom what happened.
And yeah, I went back to the shop when it was time for closing, which we normally close around 7:30. I helped them back. I helped them close the store and I was calm. I was really polite. When I was about leaving, I turned back, I looked him in the eyes and said goodnight, Sir. I said goodnight, Steven, on knowing to him that that was the last goodnight he was going to hear from me, literally. So I went home that day and that was the last time I actually went to that store. Well, he said he was the last time.
It was actually the last time. Now after a couple of days, I blocked him on WhatsApp, I blocked him on my phone, contacts and everything. Now, why am I even telling you this? Is he just to complain about a bad boss? No, listen, there are three things I want you to take from this number one, stop subsidizing your own slavery. See, I was spending my energy making 2000 naira tips when my personal jobs were paying me up to 20K in a day. We often stay in safe situations that actually costing us a fortune, right?
We often stay in situation that's actually costing us a fortune. Now that is why I always say that Bean Brook is not bad. Contrary to popular belief, Bean Brook is the one or is one of the best place you can actually find yourself. Bean Brook is one of the best place you can actually find yourself because what he helps you to fight, he makes you fight. Now, one of the most dangerous place you can actually find yourself is where you are comfortable with where you are. You're comfortable receiving the identical key.
You're comfortable with the insult because you're receiving the tips and everything. You know a part of it is screaming, this is not the life you want, but yet you're still comfortable. That is the most dangerous place to be because he hurts your growth. That is the most dangerous place to be. So you must ensure that you are not playing safe and that's if it's actually costing your fortune right now. The second thing I want you to take away from this is the Monday strategy. See, you cannot leave a cage if you are working in the cage.
247, I had to take that Monday off to plan, right? I need to plan my strategy. I have to plan my everything to work for me.
So you need to carve out time to build your own ladder. Even if he means offending that yoga, even if he means displeasing whatever it is. If you know you want to actually build something for yourself, you cannot build something when you are inside that thing 247. You need to create cover time for yourself, right? To build, cover the time to build now. You also need to validate before you build now. The reason I could walk away was was because I wasn't just hoping my ebook would sell. I had used AI to validate the demand.
I knew people wanted to know how to create digital products. I didn't just create a guess, I created a solution. So you need to validate this your idea and ensure that you are on the right path. Right now I am aiming to make my first one million from selling my ebook. Why? Because I want a flashy life. But because 1,000,000 naira is what it costs to never have a man tell you when you are allowed to go and eat again. This was literally modern day slavery. Literally. If you're sitting on your own cover chair right now, I have two things for you in the description.
1st, a free validation kit. Now if you are like me who wants to go into creating of digital products, ebook specifically, I don't know how to start. I have 50 plus or 50 high demand topics and an AI prompt that I used to make sure an idea was a winner. You can use the AI prompt to help you specifically niche down to a particular demand that people are asking for right now. The second is my full system, How to write and publish your first ebook in seven days using AI. Even if you have not written before, you don't have to wait until you start starving to start building that job.
If it's not serving you, please leave. This is 2026. You have to go in to 26 with him, with him totally different mindsets. Financial stability is supposed to be one of your your goals for 2026. And if financial stability is one of your goals, then you'll be able to try a lot of things. Not necessarily, it doesn't have to just be online. A lot of things you can do offline, but just ensure that you are trying things, you are learning, you are growing to ensure that OK, when you ask your mom for money, when you ask your dad for money, when you need money, you are not limited because of your financial status.
I think that's a goal everyone needs to set to achieve in 2026. The best time to plan your exit was yesterday. Now the second best time is now. This is the morning here with Danny and I am Danny Agency educator and I'm just trying to transform your identity by refining your mentality. At least you forget. I just want to inspire you now. Stop looking for permission and acts. I will see you on the top. Peace.
